Darcy is the very first sculpture I started playing with plaster molding on (and consequently slip casting). With plaster, the less undercuts the better; and Darcy's smoother round shape and sculpting style made her an ideal candidate for a "Molding for China 101" horse.
Because this was more of a learning piece rather than an official available edition, there are only a few pieces out there. Pieces thus far have been made from earthenware, a medium known for it's easy firing vs the challenges of porcelain I'm now enjoying playing with. As I have so many excellent choices for molds and bisques now, I don't foresee this particular piece being cast anymore, which means that her owners have incredibly rare collectibles, which pleases me very much. I do have plans to eventually remake the mare's sculpture in my current proficiency and style and produce that in porcelain, though it's just that as of yet - plans.
Greenware Darcy - this is a slip cast earthenware piece pulled from the mold, assembled with slip, and cleaned up. It's been left to stand so it could dry out before firing to become a "bisque."
