Talib (pronounced Tah-LEEB) is a plucky little (14 something hands high) representation of the Arabian. This sweet gelding is half-heartedly jigging /stepping towards something that's caught his attention. Perhaps his human has come to visit with treats? Because hims cute after all, and while clearly of good breeding this one is very much a pet. The most fun part of sculpting this piece was getting all that bendy Arabian movement. The nuances of gravity and weight shifts as he bends right, falling onto that inside shoulder. The step and support of the raised hip under his left hind and the drop of the opposite hip. The snakey-neck thing Arabians do. All of those shapes and details bring realism to this piece in ways that just sculpting pretty pieces can't. Then you add on that yummy texture and he's something that breathes. I'm so pleased with how he turned out.
As I know most of you prefer hollow-cast resin for the traditional scale pieces, I've contracted out the casting for him. All pieces will still have steel wire reinforcements in the legs and tail and casts will be run through me for quality checks before being shipped. His base will be solid cast in house. To keep value high for my customers in a low market, I've limited his unpainted edition to 35. Artist copies will not be limited (except we know I don't paint many). The store page has the details. Talib in his traditional-scale version is 8.75" high (including support pegs/base) and approx. 10.5" long.
A venti scale run and possibly stablemate scale run are planned for the future after this first traditional scale offering is finished and all casts are in their owners hands.
